Mrs. Parker- Pre-AP & AP Language & Composition

Welcome to another school year.  I look forward to working with students, parents, and other educators to make this school year exceptional. I am a graduate of S.W.T.S.U., now dubbed Texas State University at San Marcos, where I received my B.A. in Liberal Arts with a major in English and my teaching certification. Additionally, I recently accomplished my goal of completing my Master’s degree in Educational School Leadership from Sul Ross State University.   My husband is fellow English teacher and coach, K. Parker.  We have two children: Gabby, who graduated from Texas State in 2016, and Kacey, who graduated from WHS past year and is now a freshman at Texas State.  We are indeed a Texan (and Bobcat) family.

While I have taught English for the past eighteen years, I continue to see each year as a new experience filled with possibilities.  I truly enjoy teaching high school students because of their endless potential; each day becomes an opportunity to create a path to success.  This year’s classroom motto is “You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be GREAT!”

Students should use this form as a source for annotations.  Remember that annotations involve more than merely listing the literary term with a quote.  Instead, focus on explaining the significance and elaborating the author's purpose.
